Kisoro, Uganda – Muhabura Diocesan Bishop Rt. Rev. Godfrey Mbitse has condemned the practice of buying votes with money, expressing concern over the growing trend of politicians exchanging money for support.

Bishop Mbitse reiterated that every individual’s right to vote for a candidate of their choice is paramount, warning that selling one’s vote compromises the future of the nation.

Speaking at a press conference at his office in Kisoro Municipality, Bishop Mbitse emphasized that political differences should not divide Christians, as people are one.

“As we approach a crucial political season, I urge everyone to reject corrupt practices that could lead our country into misery, for leadership comes from God, not from money. Every individual has the right to choose their preferred candidate,” Bishop Mbitse cautioned.

Rt. Rev. Godfrey Mbitse further called upon Christians to shun domestic violence and disputes during the Easter season.

He also urged Christians to avoid sinful behaviors, such as sexual immorality, murder, and theft, during the holy week, emphasizing the importance of truthfulness, peace within families, and spreading the Gospel.

“I wish to encourage married couples to avoid violence and family-related disputes, as this holy season calls for reflection, peace, and commitment to our faith,” said Bishop Mbitse.
