Kampala, Uganda – President Yoweri Museveni has called on religious leaders to encourage their followers to adopt commercial agriculture as a means to create wealth and fight poverty.

Robinah Nabbanja, during a meeting with religious leaders from the Inter-Religious Council of Uganda at Speke Resort Munyonyo, where the African Regional Forum on Sustainable Development is currently underway.
The President emphasized the importance of commercial agriculture in creating wealth and reducing poverty. He encouraged religious leaders to promote this initiative among their followers.
He highlighted the need to focus on high-value crops and livestock to maximize returns citing examples of successful farmers who have adopted intensive farming methods, such as dairy farming.
The President advised farmers to select the right enterprises for their land and resources.
For those with small plots, he recommended intensive agriculture, while those with larger tracts of land can opt for extensive farming.
The meeting highlights the importance of collaboration between the government and religious leaders in promoting development initiatives.
