Kampala, Uganda – The Minister of Health, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng, has emphasized the importance of personal and community hygiene in preventing the spread of diseases.

Accompanied by the Minister of State for Primary Health Care, Margaret Muhanga, Director General Health Services, Dr. Olaro Charles, and ministry technical teams and partners, Dr. Aceng stated that for the country to be disease-free, personal and community hygiene must be ensured.
“For us to have a disease-free country, we need to ensure personal and community hygiene. We need to be our neighbor’s keeper. When we clean ourselves and our communities, the risks of contracting and spreading diseases are fewer,” said Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng.
To mark the occasion, Dr. Aceng planted trees, highlighting their role in improving air quality and combating climate change.
The National Sanitation Week, held under the theme “Sanitation for Dignity and Inclusiveness,” will include other activities, such as mass cleaning by community members and free TB screening by health workers.
