Ronye Group of Companies donates a Water harvesting tank to Muhanga Progressive SS.

RUKIGA:  A group of officials from Ronye Group of Companies have donated a 10,000 litres capacity rainwater harvesting tank to Muhanga Progressive Secondary School.

Led by an esteemed alumnus of the school, the Company’s Chairperson, CPA Rollings Masiko Nyesigomwe delivered a motivational address encouraging students to seek career guidance and actively consult their teachers regarding their future academic  

He stressed the importance of rigorous study beyond classroom notes and emphasized that students should engage in extensive research to supplement their learning.

Rollings, also an old boy student, called for improved discipline among the students, advising them to show respect to their teachers and parents and to foster harmonious relationships with peers.

“I urge you all to take charge of your education. Don’t rely solely on the notes provided in class. Conduct your own research, ask questions, and seek help when needed. Your education is your responsibility, and with diligence, you can achieve great things,” said CPA Rollings Masiko.

CPA Rollings also highlighted the importance of holistic development, urging the school administration to integrate sports and recreational activities into the curriculum with the belief that such activities may be crucial for mental and physical well-being.

The head teacher of Muhanga Progressive Secondary School Mr  Tweyongyere Baker said that the inauguration of a new rainwater harvesting tank marks a significant step in addressing water scarcity issues at the school. 

Baker added that with the monsoon season approaching, the tank will enable the school to capture and store rainwater, ensuring a sustainable water supply during the dry spells.

“It is truly a moment of joy for us to receive this generous donation. This tank will not only help us manage our water resources better but also support our ongoing efforts to improve the infrastructure of our school,” said Tweyongyere Baker.

In addition to the infrastructural development, the event also spotlighted the academic achievements of the students with the previous results of Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) exams the school becoming the top performer in Rukiga District.

Furthermore, at the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) level, a student secured an impressive 17 points in Physics, Economics, and Mathematics, earning a government scholarship to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Land Surveying.
