The suspects in Police Cells have been identified as Bamwine Justin 72 and Beatrice Bashemereirwe 56 both residents of Nyakashambya Village Kyarukunda ward, Bugongi Town Council in Sheema district.

The two were arrested on Wednesday on the orders of the Deputy Resident District Commissioner (D/RDC) Sheema district Mr. Sam Evidence Orikunda and are being held at Sheema Central Police station.

Speaking to this reporter at the RDCs office in Sheema district Sam Evidence Orikunda said that they received reports about the suspects from the Enumerator from which they (Authorities) had to swing into action to bring them to book.

The D/RDC added that the two are being processed to appear before the Courts of law, urging residents to take part in the ongoing National Population and Housing Census.

“Our Enumerators had gone to their homes three times before being turned away. One of them accepted to be counted upon her arrest while the other one completely refused to give in any information about her and her household saying that their religion doesn’t allow” said Sam Evidence Orikunda.

The two explained to our reporter that under their uncommon Christian faith “Engiri/Abasimuki” the activity of counting People is considered a sin and don’t support failing into a sin under their watch.

By the time of this report one of the suspects Bamwine Justin had agreed to be enumerated, with Beatrice Bashemereirwe the second suspect resisting to take part in the Census process.
