RUBIRIZI, UGANDA – Parents have been urged to prioritize education as a vital investment for their families’ future, emphasizing its long-term benefits for personal growth, economic stability, and societal development.

The call was made by Ven. Can. Rev. Yorokamu Tayebwa on Wednesday, September 1, 2026, during a dedication service for Senior Four and Senior Six candidates at Ryeru Seed Secondary School in Rubirizi District.

Presiding as the guest of honour at the ceremony for 129 candidates, Rev. Tayebwa charged parents to reframe education as fundamental to a family’s wealth, not as a mere expense.

“Parents need to invest in providing quality education to their children and must view education as an investment in their homes, for it is part of the wealth in families,” said Rev. Tayebwa.

He further appealed to parents to consistently provide adequate scholastic materials to create a conducive learning environment and help their children perform well in the upcoming national examinations.

Echoing this sentiment, the school’s head teacher, Mr. Katumba Gordon Javira, warned that parents who neglect educational priorities will see no positive change in their future. He stressed that only by educating their children can they help them achieve their dreams and goals.

Mr. Katumba also highlighted a pressing operational challenge, citing the habitual late payment of school fees as a factor that has adversely affected the school’s activities.

Amidst the calls for parental responsibility, S.6 candidate Kyosimire Blair expressed gratitude for the school administration’s knowledge, support, and spiritual dedication.

“We are very ready for this final examination because we have done all the revision and research to lead us to pass,” Kyosimire declared.

The service concluded with a collective sense of purpose, uniting parents, educators, and students in the shared goal of achieving academic success.
