Kisoro, Uganda – The Bishop of Muhabura Diocese, Rt. Rev. Mbitse Godfrey, has called for unity among people, emphasizing the need to restore peace and cooperation within Christian families.
The bishop made the remarks during the ordination service of two deacons and the installation of six canons at St. Andrew’s Cathedral Seseme in Kisoro Municipality.
The newly ordained deacons are Rev. Jenifer Nyiramutuzo and Rev. Aggrey Mugarura, while the installed canons include three clergy canons, Rev. Canon Jonas Niyonzima, Rev. Canon Bahati, and Rev. Canon Amon Byiringiro, and three lay canons, Lay Canon Sam Musominali, Lay Canon Tereraho John, and Lay Canon Eng. Moses Murengezi.
During his sermon, Bishop Mbitse cautioned reverends against refusing parish postings based on underdevelopment in certain areas, emphasizing that serving God is a divine calling that requires willingness to minister in any location and under any circumstances.
The bishop also appealed to politicians to refrain from using inflammatory language and engaging in verbal attacks during election campaigns, warning that such behavior fosters violence, incites threats, and sows division among voters.
