Youth and Elderly in Busamba Urged to Embrace Saving Culture

Kisoro, Uganda – The residents of Busamba village, Chahi sub-county, Kisoro district, have been encouraged to adopt a saving culture to improve their financial stability.

This call was made by Hon. Eng. Alex Niyonsaba Seruganda, the Bufumbira South legislator, during the launch of the Busamba Youth SACCO and the handing over of leadership.

As the guest of honor, Hon. Seruganda highlighted the significance of saving in overcoming financial challenges and showed his support for the initiative by contributing UGX 1 million to the SACCO.

He urged the residents of Chahi Sub County, including those living in Kampala, to join the SACCO, particularly the youth, to take advantage of available opportunities and enhance their livelihoods.

The Busamba Youth SACCO was established in 2019 with the aim of improving the socio-economic well-being of the Busamba community and neighboring villages.

Hon. Seruganda encouraged the people of Busamba to utilize the opportunities available to them to drive development in their homes through joining the SACCO and other groups.

Kazimili Wilson, the outgoing chairperson, praised the progress made by the SACCO since its inception, reiterating that their primary goal is to promote community development and fight poverty.

He added that the Busamba Youth SACCO has made significant strides in promoting community development and financial stability, enabling members to access loans and pay school fees, which has improved their livelihoods and reduced financial stress.

The incoming chairperson, Jane Birungi Scovia, pledged to work closely with the newly elected leadership to serve the community well.

She emphasized that the SACCO is committed to developing the community, particularly the youth, by providing them with financial opportunities, skills, and resources to enhance their socio-economic well-being and create a brighter future.

SACCO members expressed gratitude for the positive impact the organization has had on their lives, citing the ability to access loans and pay school fees, which has brought peace to their families.
