PEAK FM’s Bandebaho Wins Election for KMDF Media Representative

Kabale Based Media Practitioners Lift Gideon Tuumwijukye Bandebaho after the Election

KABALE. Journalist Gideon Tumwijukye Bandebaho, a news reporter at 90.6 Peak FM Kabale, has emerged victorious in the election for a media representative at the Kabale Municipal Development Forum.

Bandebaho garnered 31 votes, defeating Jimmy Emmanuel, a reporter at 89.5 Voice of Kigezi FM, who garnered only 3 votes.

The election, held at the mayor’s gardens in Kabale Municipal Council, brought together media practitioners from various media houses in Kabale.

Niwagaba Emmanuel, the Community Development Officer (CDO) for Kabale Municipality, declared Bandebaho as the winner after counting the votes.

Both candidates had initially presented their manifestos, pledging to bridge the gap between the media fraternity and the municipal council.

Jimmy was represented by his designated agent and colleague Journalist at V.O.K, Abraham Orishaba.

Bandebaho expressed gratitude to the media practitioners for choosing him as their representative, promising to represent the media regardless of their house status. “I’m not going there as Gideon of Peak FM, but as Gideon of the media fraternity,” he said.

Jimmy Emmanuel, conceded the defeat and pledged to work with the elected representative.

Media practitioners Sophan Niwamanya from Peak FM and Arineitwe Julius Emmanuel congratulated Gideon Tumwijukye on his victory.

Bandebaho replaces Javura Twizukye Kahonaho of Rubanda FM whose a five year term that started in 2020, ends this year.

Kabale Municipal Council in partnership with the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development and other stakeholders in the transforming settlements of the urban poor programme in Uganda program on 9th July 2010 came together and initiated the Kabale Municipal Development Forum–KMDF.

The forum brings together all urban development stakeholders in the municipality to formulate solutions that shape Kabale municipality’s development agenda.
