Fellow resident Ivan Musinguzi said the community has grown deeply weary after nearly seven years without electricity, a situation that has systematically denied them the opportunity to establish businesses and enhance their overall standard of living.
He observed that nearby trading centres and villages have long enjoyed the benefits of electricity and clean water, while Kamunyu continues to languish in a frustrating state of stagnation and marginalization.
Yoweri Nkwasibwe, a local leader from Kagyera Cell in Kinyamahwa Town and mayor of the trading centre, confirmed that residents have repeatedly raised the issue of electricity.
“Residents have complained endlessly about the lack of electricity. Power poles were installed, and efforts were made to bring wires to the area, but for years, no connection has been made,” Nkwasibwe admitted.
He also pointed to poor roads as another major challenge affecting the community, expressing optimism that the government would address these pressing issues during its new term.
