BUHWEJU – The Buhweju District OYES Team has refuted claims that Woman MP Hon. Nnamara Annet Oyes Byamukama disregarded the value of road infrastructure, affirming that her agenda is rooted in faith, love, unity, and development.

Hon. Annet Oyes recently remarked, drawing inspiration from 1 Corinthians 13, the Bible’s beloved “love chapter,” to highlight that even the most impressive growth and development are hollow without the foundational pillars of love and unity.
“Any form of growth, progress, or building without love and unity is empty and amounts to zero value to the people,” the statement quoted her as saying.
In a press statement issued on Friday, August 14, 2026, Team OYES offered the full context of the legislator’s remarks, stressing that her words drew from scripture and a deeper view of sustainable development.
The team firmly stated that the claims, aggressively circulated by Team Amazima Gonka, are a clear and calculated distortion of the Honourable Member’s original message.
The team explained that the “nothing” referred to roads built through corruption, shoddy work, and community division, projects that will not survive one rainy season, while roads built with integrity, quality, and unity will serve generations.
Team OYES acknowledged Buhweju’s serious road challenges affecting farmers, students, patients, and traders, stressing that the real issue lies in how roads are planned, funded, constructed, and monitored.
“The issue is not whether Buhweju needs roads. We all agree that Buhweju needs good roads. The central concern should be how the roads are planned, funded, constructed, and monitored,” the statement said.
Meanwhile, the legislator has formally requested the district CAO to compile all outstanding Presidential pledges affecting the district, including tarmac roads, to enable MPs and district leadership to jointly follow up with the Central Government.
“No MP can tarmac a road alone. It requires a united district speaking with one voice in Kampala,” Team OYES stressed.
Through the Buhweju Alliance for Women Empowerment (BAWE), Hon. Annet Oyes is mobilizing community monitoring teams to assess the quality of government projects and document cases of poor workmanship across the district.
The team has since urged residents to report specific road challenges with clear details rather than rely on social media exchanges, thus appealing to Team Amazima Gonka to avoid personal attacks and unite in securing resources for Buhweju.
