RUKUNGIRI – Old students and local communities have been urged to unite in supporting their former schools, rather than leaving the entire burden of educational improvement to the government alone.

Gumisiriza, the Southern Division LC III Chairperson, reminded the community that the government is composed of the very people it serves, thus encouraging old students to reinvest in the schools that molded their character and future.

He further emphasized that alumni hold a distinctive chance to uplift their communities by strengthening the very institutions that once nurtured their dreams and laid the groundwork for their achievements.
School alumna Judith Abeneitwe delivered mathematical sets and pens to Primary Seven candidates, rewarded top performers in Primary Four, Five, and Six, and recognized prefects for their leadership contributions.
Having studied at the school between 1993 and 2000, Judith noted that her gesture was intended to inspire learners to work diligently and remind them that education is about becoming responsible and successful citizens.

Kihanga Primary School Headteacher Perez Namanya welcomed the donation as timely support to motivate learners and complement parents’ efforts, while appealing for more alumni to partner in the school’s development.
He noted that the school has already benefited from government-funded construction of classrooms, a toilet, a kitchen, and staff quarters renovation, alongside a five-year plan for water and electricity extension and upgrades.

Namanya further expressed gratitude for the gesture but emphasized that much work remains, inviting alumni and friends to join the journey of transforming Kihanga into a center of excellence.
PTA Chairperson Akanyijuka Ezra Mbabazi noted that the donation would relieve parents of some financial pressure, enabling them to channel resources toward other necessary school supplies for their children.
The school head prefects, speaking on behalf of their fellow learners, expressed gratitude to the donor and committed themselves to greater diligence and dedication in their studies to make their school proud.
