KANUNGU – The former Local Council I Chairperson and election aspirant has tragically died following a devastating fire outbreak at his residence, moments after his defeat in the local polls on Tuesday.

Reliable sources indicate that the tragic incident unfolded late on Tuesday night when Justus, who had apparently been unsuccessful in his re-election bid, returned to his home to be with his family.
At around 11:30 PM, flames suddenly erupted from the kitchen area of the residence, a fire that witnesses described as unusually fierce, rapidly consuming everything in its path as it spread toward the main house.
Family members, who had been fast asleep, were jolted awake by the crackling inferno just as the raging flames engulfed their home, leaving them with mere moments to flee for their lives.
The deceased, together with his family members, tried to put out the fire but were overpowered by its volume and thus sustained serious burns on his body.
Kigezi Regional Police spokesperson, SP Nelson Tumushime, confirmed that the deceased was rushed to Kambuga Hospital for emergency care but was pronounced dead upon admission.
The ferocious fire reduced the family home and its contents to ashes, destroying household items valued at millions of shillings, as police launched a full-scale investigation into the suspected arson.
SP Tumushime assured the public that investigations into the suspected arson are actively ongoing, urging anyone with information to step forward as they work to uncover the truth behind this tragic loss.
“Our Police in Kanungu is investigating a suspected arson case. We are thoroughly examining the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident and urge anyone with information to come forward,” SP Tumushime stated.
The timing of the incident, immediately following the LC1 elections, has raised concerns among local residents, many of whom are struggling to comprehend the tragedy that has befallen their neighbor.
