The Kisoro People’s Choice Awards is a district-based recognition platform that celebrates individuals and groups contributing to community growth through sports, talent promotion, education, entertainment, presentations, and other development initiatives across Kisoro District.

Voting for nominees began in early April, with residents voting online for their favorites in various categories including Best Football Club of the Year, Best School of the Year, and Best Artist of the Year, among others.

In the football category, SC Volcanoes faced competition from notable district teams including Young Simba and Gorilla Highlands Sports Club. However, SC Volcanoes emerged victorious after leading the polls with more than 1,200 votes, while other contenders trailed in the hundreds.

The awards handover function marked the second edition celebrations of the Kisoro People’s Choice Awards, held on 10th May at Travellers Hotel in Kisoro Municipality.

Speaking after receiving the award, club president Dr. Martin Mbonye credited the achievement to the fans for continuously supporting and embracing SC Volcanoes as one of the fastest-growing football clubs in the district.

The recognition adds another milestone to an impressive season for SC Volcanoes, whose rise continues to echo across the Western Region football scene and Uganda at large.
