KISORO, UGANDA – Teachers across Kisoro District have officially resumed teaching duties, marking the end of a one-month strike over salary disparities that had left classrooms empty.

Nyarutembe Primary School head teacher Charles Viringo reported a strong restart, with 10 of 13 government-paid teachers present and the absent three apologizing due to a family bereavement.He added that the learner turnout was equally impressive, with 513 pupils reporting for classes.
Expressing confidence in his Primary Seven candidates, Viringo assured parents that the interruption would not severely impact the forthcoming Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE).

At Seseme Integrated School, head teacher Samuel Baker Munyantwari reported that 15 teachers resumed work with only three absentees who sent apologies, while over 500 of the school’s 800 pupils returned on the first day.
Munyantwari commended parents for preparing their children for the return to school and unveiled the school’s robust plan to ensure syllabus coverage and improve overall performance.
