AIGP Kataratambi succumbed to a long-standing battle with diabetes on October 2, 2025, at Nakasero Hospital in Kampala, where he was receiving treatment.

The somber ceremony was a gathering of the nation’s top security and government officials, reflecting the high esteem in which the fallen senior officer was held.

Leading the police delegation was the Inspector General of Police, IGP Abas Byakagaba, who was accompanied by a contingent of senior officers.

In a heartfelt eulogy, IGP Byakagaba painted a picture of a dedicated and invaluable colleague whose absence will be deeply felt.

“We have lost a colleague that we shall live to remember. From the time he was appointed Director of Human Rights and Legal Services, Charles has been one of those critical people who have been very pivotal,” IGP Byakagaba stated.

The IGP eulogized the late officer as both a personal friend and an invaluable professional whose significant contributions greatly benefited both the Uganda Police Force and the nation.

The funeral service was graced by a delegation of prominent government officials, led by the Minister of State for Internal Affairs, Hon. David Muhoozi, and the Minister of Health, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng, underscoring the late AIGP’s national stature.

AIGP Kataratambi’s career was notably marked by his tenure as the Director of Human Rights and Legal Services, a role in which he was instrumental in guiding the Force on matters of law and justice.

His passing leaves a significant void in the legal architecture of the Uganda Police Force, as noted by his colleagues and superiors.

As the sun set in Kanga Village, AIGP Charles Kataratambi Twesigye was finally laid to rest, remembered not just as a distinguished officer, but as a friend, a pillar of his profession, and a patriot who dedicated his life to the service of his nation.
