Rubanda, Uganda – The Minister of State for Finance and National Planning, Hon. Henry Musasizi, faced hostility from voters when his convoy was stoned and vandalized.

The incident occurred on July 3, 2025, at Hakashanje Playground, Nyakahanga Cell, Bushura Parish, Hamuhambo Town Council, Rubanda District, as the minister was leaving a campaign event.

A group of unidentified individuals hurled stones at his convoy, shattering vehicle windows and causing significant damage.

The attack followed an earlier incident the same morning, where unknown persons destroyed the minister’s campaign posters at the same venue.

Police confirmed that the motive behind the attacks remains under investigation, though political tensions are suspected to be a factor.

Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson ASP Elly Maate stated that a case of malicious damage has been registered, with ongoing inquiries to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.

He confirmed that the Police have positively identified nine suspects linked to the attack, and a multi-agency operation is actively underway to apprehend them.

“We remind all citizens to respect the rule of law and allow others to exercise their civic rights freely. Those who engage in violence or vandalism will face the full force of the law. We urge the public to refrain from acts of lawlessness, especially during this heightened political season,” said ASP Maate.

Authorities have called for public cooperation in providing information to aid the arrests while assuring heightened security to prevent further incidents and ensure safety.
