Ntungamo, Uganda – The former State Minister for Labor and Rushenyi County Legislator, Hon. Mwesigwa Rukutana, has called on the young generation to care for and support their aging parents, citing the blessings that come with it.
He made this appeal during the requiem service for his mother, the late Beatrice Rukutana, at St. Andrews COU Ruyonza parish in Nyanga Rubaare sub-county, Rushenyi, Ntungamo district.
Rukutana described his mother as more than just a parent; she was a friend, confidant, and mentor who played a significant role in shaping his life and career.
Beatrice Rukutana single-handedly nurtured her children after their father’s demise, instilling values of determination and resilience that contributed to Hon. Mwesigwa Rukutana’s success in politics and extended her legacy beyond the family.
Family members and prominent figures, including her children Namara, Nabimanya, Tagaywa, and Norah, paid tribute to the late mother for her generosity, hospitality, love, and being a trusted and peace-loving mother.
They also expressed gratitude to Hon. Rukutana for his support in preserving the family’s values and legacy.
Hon. Bata Kamateneti, Ntungamo district woman MP, condoled the Rukutana family, praising the late Beatrice Rukutana’s generosity and highlighting the importance of older persons as sources of wisdom and strength.
Hon. Naomi Kabasharira, Rushenyi county legislator, thanked Hon. Rukutana for demonstrating unity and cooperation in caring for their mother and ensuring a dignified burial.
The late Beatrice Rukutana, aged 92, leaves behind six children and 115 grandchildren. She will be remembered for her dedication to her family and community.
