Ntungamo, Uganda – The Ntungamo District Inspector of Schools, Mr. Robert Tuzaarirwe, has issued a stern warning to students against the alleged surge in witchcraft practices in schools within the district.

Tuzaarirwe, who was the chief guest at the closure of the USSSA Ankole zone tournament, advised students to prioritize studies and wholesome activities, warning that occult practices can harm their academics and well-being.

The USSSA tournament was hosted by Rubaare Secondary School in Rubaare Town Council, Rushenyi County, Ntungamo district, and brought together 84 secondary schools.

Inspector Tuzaarirwe commended the organizers for maintaining discipline among the students during the three-day tournament and praised teachers for their role in instilling discipline in their students.

“Students who develop their talents will escape the habits of witchcraft, ritual, and night dancing. Those involved in witchcraft do not participate in co-curricular activities. I want to encourage you students to maintain your zeal for uplifting these talents you have shown here,” Inspector Tuzaarirwe said.

Mr. Onesmus Karamuzi, the deputy headteacher of Rubaare Secondary School, thanked the participating schools and encouraged students to continue developing their talents to build a healthy mindset for their future careers.

The tournament featured various co-curricular activities, including netball, volleyball, woodball, and football for both boys and girls under 16, with winners receiving trophies and medals to represent the Ankole zone at the national level in Tororo district.

Top teams emerged victorious in the tournament, with Kitunga High School from Ntungamo dominating Football U16 and Dance Sport Boys, while Kyeizooba Girls from Bushenyi, Ntare School from Mbarara City, Kibatsi High School from Ntungamo, and others also took home the honors.

The football under-16 trophy for girls was not awarded to Boni Consilli, despite their 2-0 win over Sheema Girls SSS, due to suspicions of player manipulation, with officials announcing plans to organize a re-match to determine the rightful winner.
