Kabale, Uganda – Residents of Katuna Town Council in Kabale District were shocked on Saturday by a murder incident involving a husband who allegedly ended his wife’s life.
The tragic incident occurred at around 10:00 am on May 10, 2025, at Mayengo cell, Kiniogo ward, Katuna Town Council.
A man identified as Mugabe Andrew reportedly picked a quarrel with his wife, Mukandayisenga Donatele alias Shantari, a Rwandan national.
The situation escalated, and Andrew allegedly hit Donatele with a metallic bar on the head, causing her to fall unconscious.Donatele was rushed to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
The Kigezi Police spokesperson, ASP Maate Elly, confirmed the incident, stating that the scene of the crime was visited by the Acting Detective Commander of Kabale and his team, who examined and documented evidence.
“The police obtained relevant statements from witnesses, arrested the suspect, Mugabe Andrew, and are conducting ongoing inquiries to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident,” ASP Maate Elly said.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the devastating consequences of domestic violence.
