The generous funding will allow the WFP to expand its cash transfer program for general food assistance in nine refugee settlements across Uganda.

As a result, over 800,000 of the most vulnerable refugees will gain from this initiative, according to Lisa Chesney, the British High Commissioner to Uganda.

Lisa said that the grant is a testament to the UK’s commitment to supporting Uganda’s efforts to host and give for the large refugee population.

She added that the grant will to play a crucial role in addressing the food security needs of refugees, many of whom rely on external assistance to meet their basic needs.

The WFP has been working closely with the Ugandan government and other partners to deliver food assistance to refugees, and this grant will help to bolster these efforts.
