NTUNGAMO, UGANDA – Ugandans, especially those who are privileged and rich in heart, have been called upon to go back to their roots to foster community development, unity, and support for the less privileged in the countryside.

The chairman of the Ruhaama Development Platform (RUDEP), Ndyamuba Milton, addressed the community at a goat-roasting event last Friday evening at Monar Rest Hotel in Nyamukana Town Council, Ntungamo District.

Milton, who also serves as the Commissioner of Procurement at the Ministry of Education and Sports, emphasized that this initiative will enhance sustainability across three vital pillars: health, education, and solidarity.

He highlighted the main objective of the Ruhaama Development Platform (RUDEP), which includes connecting and supporting all people from Ruhaama residing in various parts of the country.

The founding chairman, Nuwabeine Josephat, who is also a director in the office of the Director General, noted that the platform has developed other capital venture projects such as real estate, a SACCO, and transport with Paradise Coaches, among others, which have enabled it to thrive for the last 17 years.

Mbabazi Carolyn Beyendeza, the Secretary General, encouraged community members from greater Ruhaama to join the platform for socio-economic transformation, family mentorship, and social networking.

The Mayor of Ntungamo Municipality, Jacob Kafureeka, who was welcomed into the platform, hailed the members for joining to connect and lobby for the people of greater Ruhaama. He implored others to borrow a leaf from them to develop their home communities, saying, “East to west, home is the best.”

The Ruhaama Development Platform (RUDEP) is an independent NGO and umbrella platform uniting all people who hail from Greater Ruhaama. It was started in 2009 and has 160 members.
