RUKUNGIRI, UGANDA – The National Resistance Movement (NRM) structures in Rukungiri district have been called upon to foster cooperation and work as a cohesive team in support of the party’s flag bearers at all levels.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! The call was made on Wednesday by the Rubabo County NRM Flag Bearer, Mwesigwa Mathias Rwabugumi, who urged unity for development during a meeting with party structures at Rugyedwa Catholic Church in Kebisoni Sub County.
Rwabugumi pledged to be a vocal community advocate, committing to fight for better clean water, roads, and other vital infrastructure.
He stressed that local citizens deserve representatives with the access and determination to directly present their pressing development challenges to President Museveni, ensuring their concerns are heard at the highest level.
“I pledged to be a vocal community advocate and committed to fight for better clean water, roads, and other vital infrastructure. Our people deserve leaders who can reach President Museveni to voice the challenges hindering development in our area,” Rwabugumi said.
Rwabugumi strongly urged the public to elect all NRM flag bearers, from the LC1 level up to the President, stating that a unified government is the only way to accelerate development in Rubabo County.
He advised voters to choose leaders based on their understanding of local challenges and their development credentials, rather than focusing on religious affiliations.
“We must vote for capable and development-oriented leaders who are committed to transforming this area,” he emphasized.
The Speaker of Kebisoni Town Council, James Turyamubona, also urged the NRM party structures to rally behind the party’s candidates.
He stated that electing opposition candidates would undermine service delivery and slow down community development.
The Coordinator of the Patriotic League (PLU) in Rukungiri District, Doreen Komujuni, tasked the structures with immediately beginning mobilization efforts to secure votes for all NRM flag bearers.
She urged public support for Rwabugumi, highlighting him as the sole leader in Rubabo with the access and readiness to present local challenges directly to President Museveni.
“I urge the public to work together and choose Rwabugumi. He is the leader in Rubabo who is responsible and ready to reach President Museveni and present the challenges of our local people,” Komujuni stated.
The ongoing NRM Party engagements are intensifying across the region in crucial preparation for the upcoming campaign tour of the Party’s presidential candidate, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, who is scheduled to arrive next week.
