Kasese, Uganda – A student at Liberty College in Kasese perished in a fatal road crash on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, along the Fort Portal-Kasese Highway, near the Nyamwamba bridge and NPR cameras.

The deceased was identified as Muhindo Selestin, 26, who was knocked down by a motor vehicle UGB 690G traveling from Kasese town towards Fort Portal while he was walking in the same direction.

The Rwenzori East Regional Police spokesperson, SP Nelson Tumushime, confirmed that the scene was visited by Traffic Police Officers led by ASP Nuwagira Emmanuel, the Division Traffic Officer for Kasese.

The vehicle involved in the accident was towed and parked at Kasese Central Police Station pending inspection as investigations continue to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The police emphasized the importance of road safety and cautioned drivers and pedestrians to exercise vigilance.

SP Tumushime urged members of the public to remain disciplined on the roads and follow traffic regulations, especially given the expected heavy traffic flow in the coming days.
