Kampala, Uganda – The National Resistance Movement (NRM) party delegates from Rukiga district have pledged their support for Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anita Among, in her bid to contest for the position of Second National Vice Chairperson (Female).

This development follows Among’s announcement of her intention to join the NRM Central Executive Committee in a bid to strengthen her leadership role within the party, with her campaign gaining momentum daily.

The NRM delegates from Rukiga district, led by newly elected Chairperson Mr. Frank Kyerere, were introduced to Speaker Anita Among by Hon. Dr. Sylvia Alinaitwe, the district’s woman MP hopeful and Deputy Director of the National Water and Sewerage Corporation.

During the meeting, Speaker Among expressed her commitment to advancing the ideals of the NRM party and collaborating with leaders at all levels to promote the well-being of communities.

She also appreciated Dr. Alinaitwe’s efforts in driving development projects, particularly in the water sector, where she has been instrumental in implementing water project installations across the country.

Dr. Alinaitwe recently launched water projects in Rukiga district, showcasing her ongoing commitment to regional development.

The delegates’ support for Speaker Among’s candidacy is a significant boost to her campaign, demonstrating her growing influence within the party.

Dr. Alinaitwe’s reputation as a development-oriented leader, particularly through her coffee initiative in Rukiga district where she distributed over 2 million seedlings to residents, is notable and may be contributing to the enthusiasm among NRM delegates.

This show of support from Rukiga district follows a similar endorsement from supporters in Kabarole district, who recently paid a courtesy visit to Speaker Among and promised to back her bid.
