Kisoro, Uganda – Uganda’s President Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is set to officiate the groundbreaking ceremony for the Kisoro-Mgahinga road project at Shaaza Playground in Kisoro Municipality on Friday, June 13, 2025.

The announcement was made by the Kisoro Deputy Resident District Commissioner (D/RDC) Robert Tukamuhabwa during a media briefing about the heightened security in the district.

RDC Tukamuhabwa stated that all security measures are in place and that the district is ready to receive the President, urging residents to arrive at the venue early to welcome the Head of State.

He also urged individuals who have not yet received their compensation due to family disputes or domestic conflicts to report to the office of the RDC for assistance.

“Those who have not yet received compensation and are affected by the road construction may be involved in family disagreements. However, I can confirm that about 97% of eligible individuals have already received their compensation, as it was allocated and confirmed by the High Court. Everyone eligible should be fully compensated,” said Robert Tukamuhabwa.

The RDC cautioned women against engaging in sexual relationships with workers involved in the road construction, to avoid disputes later on, as some women may approach the RDC’s office after the workers have left, seeking support for children fathered during the project.

After the Kisoro ceremony, President Museveni is expected to proceed to Kabale, where he will officiate at another groundbreaking ceremony for the Kabale-Lake Bunyonyi road project at Kigezi High School Primary Ground.
