Kisoro, Uganda – Kisoro Deputy Resident District Commissioner, Robert Tukamuhabwa, has warned motorists and car owners against washing their vehicles in River Mucha, located in Nyundo Sub County.

While addressing journalists at his office on Tuesday, Deputy RDC Robert Tukamuhabwa said that residents using the river have expressed concerns about potential health risks due to the presence of oils and other substances from washed vehicles.

The River Mucha, which flows through Nyundo Sub County in Kisoro district, feeds into Lake Mutanda and Lake Mulehe, two vital water bodies in the region.

Tukamuhabwa emphasized that the river’s cleanliness is crucial, especially considering the large number of tourists visiting the area on their way to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for mountain gorilla tours.

He further urged motorists and car owners to find alternative locations for washing their vehicles, warning that violators risk arrest, in a bid to protect the river’s water quality and ensure a safe and healthy environment for residents and tourists.
