Kasese, Uganda – The Rwenzori East Region Police FC has conquered the National Water Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) FC with a 7-1 victory in a friendly football match held on May 9, 2025, at Nyakasanga Playground in Kasese Municipality on Heroes Day.
The match, which kicked off at 5:00 PM, attracted hundreds of football enthusiasts from the region and served as a preparatory event for the upcoming 2nd Edition of the IGP Cup Tournament.

According to the Rwenzori East Region Police spokesperson SP Nelson Tumushime, the Police’s FC emerged victorious, with the team’s scorers including SP DK Nyanzi Dennis, SP Piriyo Robert Harry, Asp Abaho, OC Hima, Police Constable Omutuju Bilali (who scored two goals), and PC Wamboga Jackson.
Nelson added that SP Barenzi Niwagira Richard’s professional pass to Asp Niwagira Emmanuel, OC Traffic Kasese, significantly contributed to the landslide victory, while NWSC FC’s sole goal was scored by Kateba Andrew, who wore shirt number 7.
The match was attended by prominent figures, including Deputy RPC SSP Muhumuza Alex, Divisional DPCs, and influential businessmen from Kasese Municipality.
SSP Muhumuza Alex, who doubles as the Team Manager for Police, expressed confidence in Rwenzori East Region FC’s prospects in the upcoming tournament.
“I am convinced beyond reasonable doubt that Rwenzori East Region Police FC will win the tournament due to our overwhelming record of winning several matches both at home and away,” SSP Muhumuza Alex said.
The police team’s victory was a testament to their dedication and commitment to excellence in sports, positioning Rwenzori East Region FC to make a strong impression in the upcoming IGP Cup Tournament.
