Kisoro, Uganda – Five passengers and the driver survived with injuries in a tragic accident on Sunday in Kagano village, Kanaba Sub-county, Kisoro district, along the Kisoro-Kabale road.

The victims include Bahati Tussi Justine, Muhindo Matembela, Kamala Mitume Boniface, Kambale Malemo, Kasereka Mbula, and driver Bahati Cubaka Jean Claude.

According to sources, the victims were traveling in a Toyota Noah (CGO 4642AE22) from Beni, Congo, via Kabale, heading towards Kisoro.

As they approached Kagano corner at high speed, the driver failed to negotiate the turn, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and roll down into a valley.

“Our officers responded promptly to the scene, rushing both victims to Mutorele Hospital for medical attention. The motor vehicle involved in the accident is currently parked at Kisoro Central Police Station for inspection. A thorough investigation is underway, with a sketch of the accident scene drawn and statements recorded from four victims, including the driver,” said Elly Maate.

Maate further stated that a Police Form 3 (PF3) had been issued, and investigations were underway, with preliminary findings suggesting brake failure and overspeeding as possible causes of the accident.
