Kisoro, Uganda – The National Resistance Movement (NRM) in Kisoro District is set for a crucial elective conference this Friday, where a new Vice Chairperson will be elected.

Five candidates have been nominated for the position, including Hon. John Kamara Nizeyimana a prominent figure in the district’s political landscape.

Other candidates, include; Nambajimana Alex, Tugume Joshua; Bishubeho Louis; and Ndikuyeze Ramadhan, are vying for the position of NRM Kisoro District Vice Chairperson.

In an interview after the nomination, Hon. John Kamara Nizeyimana the current Legislator for Bufumbira North revealed that he had initially intended to contest for the full Chairperson position but has since withdrawn his bid to run for the Vice Chairperson slot.

This decision, he explained, was reached after an internal meeting with the current Chairperson, Hon. Dr. Philemon Mateke, who is now an opponent.

Nizeyimana emphasized the importance of focusing on developmental issues and avoiding conflicts, particularly during elections.

He called for cooperation and support from the public, stressing that unity is essential for winning the Vice Chairperson position.

Bishubeho Louis and Ndikuyeze Ramadhan, two other candidates, outlined their visions for the NRM in Kisoro District if elected.

Bishubeho emphasized that, if elected, he would focus on promoting NRM programs to drive development and educating youth on the party’s ideology, given their significant presence in Uganda’s population.

Ndikuyeze urged voters to elect candidates who can deliver services to the people, while praising outgoing Chairperson Hon. Dr. Philemon Mateke for his decade-long service and calling for support for worthy candidates.
