The incumbent LC.5 Chairman, Ampeire Stephen Kasyaba, has been declared the winner of the Rubanda District NRM District Chairperson flag bearer elections, held yesterday.
According to the results announced by Rubanda District NRM Returning Officer, Monday Aggrey, Kasyaba secured 50,594 votes, representing 66.08% of the total votes cast. His closest rival, Buzare Julius, garnered 25,082 votes (33.02%). Kasyaba won the election with a decisive margin of 25,512 votes.
Speaking at the declaration of results, Kasyaba expressed his gratitude to the people of Rubanda District for their overwhelming support.
“I am so glad that our people have put their appreciation into action by voting me back into office,” Kasyaba said, highlighting his achievements since taking office in 2021.
He also thanked the District NRM leadership, led by State Minister of Finance Henry Musasizi, who is also the Rubanda East MP, for organizing a smooth and successful election.
Meanwhile, Mr. Obed Mutatina Kitabutuka emerged as the NRM flag bearer for the position of LC5 Male Councilor representing Bubaare Town Council, with 2,376 votes, defeating Ainomugisha Rauben who secured 1,413 votes.
Brighton Arinaitwe, a Kabale-based journalist, won the LC5 Male Councillor seat for Habuhutu-Mugyera Town Council, polling 1,384 votes against Esau Mirimo’s 1,140. Arinaitwe pledged to prioritize service delivery in his new role.
