Kampala, Uganda – The Prime Minister of Uganda, the Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja, has emphasized the critical role of patriotic and professional values in driving the country’s socioeconomic transformation.

The Prime Minister said this on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, while delivering a keynote lecture to senior military officers undertaking the Senior Command and Staff Course, Intake 008/2024-2025.

Speaking at the event, the Prime Minister underscored the importance of discipline, integrity, and national pride in fostering sustainable development.

She called upon the officers to actively engage in mobilizing citizens, security personnel, and their families to take advantage of global free trade and market opportunities, particularly in the production and supply of high-value agricultural crops.

Nabbanja highlighted Uganda’s potential to thrive in the international trade arena, urging the officers to support government initiatives aimed at boosting exports.

“As leaders, you have a duty to encourage our people to participate in the global market, especially in supplying high-value crops that can elevate household incomes and strengthen our economy,” Nabbanja said.

The Prime Minister pointed out that Uganda’s agricultural sector remains a cornerstone of its economic growth, and strategic engagement in trade could position the country as a key player in regional and global markets.

She reminded the officers of their constitutional duty to protect Uganda’s sovereignty and uphold the rule of law, while stressing the need for professionalism and high ethical standards within the security forces.

“You are the guardians of our nation’s peace and stability. It is your responsibility to ensure that the rule of law prevails and that all Ugandans feel secure under your protection,” Nabbanja stated.
