State Minister of Finance Henry Musasizi has urged political leaders to continue monitoring the implementation of the government’s wealth creation programs—especially the Parish Development Model—despite the busy schedules that come with electoral campaigns.

Musasizi, who is  also the Rubanda East MP and NRM Chairperson  Rubanda District, was addressing women and youth leaders who emerged victorious in the recently concluded NRM subcounty elections.

“As the State Minister of Finance, my role is to keep reminding you that the wealth creation programs are still running and need your attention,” Musasizi said while speaking today at Volcano Hotel in Rubanda Town Council.

He noted that the government spends over Shs. 2 trillion annually on wealth creation programs, including the Shs. 100 million allocated to each of the 105,894 parishes across the country.

“In Rubanda District alone, we have disbursed over Shs. 14.6 billion, and all this money is in the hands of people involved in various projects. Therefore, we need to ensure that the money is being properly utilized to improve household income. We can only do that by monitoring and guiding the beneficiaries on what to do,” Musasizi added.

The Minister also urged NRM leaders to emphasize the government’s mass line approach to service delivery, which aims to benefit all citizens inclusively and at scale.

“When we talk of the mass line, we mean services that benefit all people without discrimination. If it is immunization, let it be for all Ugandans; if it is education; let all children go to school. The same applies to hospitals, socio-economic development programs, and so on,” he said.

Speaking at the same meeting, Rubanda District LC5 Chairperson Ampeire Stephen Kasyaba highlighted several health-related interventions carried out during his and Minister Musasizi’s current term since 2021. These include the construction of the district hospital (currently being built by the UPDF Engineering Brigade), the construction of Bufundi HC III (set to be upgraded to HC IV status), and the development of maternity wards at Ruhiija HC III and Kagarama Health Centre, among others.

Meanwhile, both youth and women leaders from the 16 subcounties and town councils endorsed Minister Henry Musasizi to continue serving as the Rubanda District NRM Chairperson. They cited several reasons, notably his ability to lobby for the district and increase the budget from Shs. 24 billion to Shs. 45 billion within just four years.

Elections for the District NRM Chairperson and other committee members will take place tomorrow, May 23, 2025.
