Kisoro, Uganda – Fear grips Nateete Trading Centre in Kisoro district after armed robbers pulled off a daring UGX 800,000 heist from a local business shop, sparking concerns over safety and security.
In a shocking late-night incident, two masked gunmen stormed a shop in Chihe Parish, Nyakinama Sub-county, on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at approximately 10:30 PM.
According to eyewitnesses, the armed robbers, dressed in civilian clothes, ordered six men seated outside the shop to lie down and surrender their valuables.
The robbers fired three shots into the air to intimidate the group when one man resisted. They then made off with cash, mobile phones, and other valuables before escaping.
Shop owner Rodgers Irankunda swiftly reported the incident to the police, but despite their prompt response, the robbers had fled the scene by the time they arrived.
After conducting a thorough review of the shop’s security camera footage, police confirmed that the gunmen were armed with a high-powered AK-47 rifle.
Kisoro District Police Commander, Ben Niwamanya Kashumbusha, assured the public that investigations are underway to apprehend the suspects.
He noted that this is the third such incident in the area and suggested that the perpetrators may have crossed from the neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Kashumbusha urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity or unfamiliar individuals in their communities to the authorities.
