Kanungu, Uganda – Kanungu Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the murder of a resident whose body was discovered dumped at Rwenkywera stream.
The deceased has been identified as Kakiiza Rogers, 45, a resident of Nyakarambi cell, Nyakatooma parish, Kihanda Sub-county, Kanungu district.
Sources indicate that on May 10, 2025, at an unknown time, Rogers’ body was discovered at Rwenkywera stream by Rosette Habasa, who was heading to work early in the morning.
Upon discovering the body, Rosette immediately informed the GISO Kihanda Sub-county, Nyabugyingo Moses Barigye, who alerted the Kihanda police post, which responded to the crime scene.
On arrival, they found the body lying in the stream and subsequently informed Kihihi police station, from which a team of officers visited and processed the scene.
According to the Kigezi Police spokesperson, ASP Maate Elly, the officers documented evidence, recorded relevant statements, and conducted a postmortem examination.
Maate added that investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding Rogers’ murder, with the police working to uncover the facts and apprehend the perpetrators.
