Kanungu, Uganda<\/strong> – A young casual laborer in Kanungu district has died in a suspected suicide incident involving the pesticide “Striker”, with the motive still unknown. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The deceased has been identified as Kwikiriza Ian, a 21 casual laborer from Kembeho cell, Kashuri parish, Kambuga sub-county, Kanungu district. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sources indicate that on June 11, 2025, at around 11:30 am, Mbonimpa Vicencio received a phone call from Turinawe Kenneth, informing him that the deceased’s goats were still at home. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When Turinawe Kenneth and his mother went to check on Kwikiriza Ian, they found him unresponsive in his locked room; after breaking in, they discovered him lying face down on the mattress. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Kigezi Police spokesperson ASP Elly Maate, the incident was reported to the police, and a crime scene investigation revealed a small bottle of pesticide named “Striker” near the bed, along with vomit, raising suspicions of suicide. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Relevant statements were recorded, and a postmortem was conducted at Kihihi Health Centre IV, after which the body was handed over to the relatives for burial, while the police continue to conduct inquiries into the matter.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
