Suspects held by Police allegedly for abducting a 7 day-old infant, from her mother."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>KAMPALA-UGANDA:<\/strong> The Uganda Police are now holding three suspects at Central Police Station (CPS) Kampala allegedly for abducting a seven-day-old infant, from her mother last week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The suspects in Custody have been identified as Akello Monica, Oswal John Elephant and Akoli Bena who both connived and abducted Alyano Gladys 6th August 2024 from Mamusena Miriam her mother.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Preliminary investigations reveal that Akello Monica, the suspect, orchestrated a scheme in collaboration with a local leader, Oswal John Elephant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The suspect lured pregnant women and new mothers under the false pretense of providing financial support from a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After sending the other women away, Akello singled out Mamusena Miriam, informing her that to get financial aid, she would need to give a birth certificate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the pretext of obtaining the certificate, Akello and the victim boarded two different motorbikes, with the suspect offering to hold the child.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But, Akello disappeared with the infant shortly thereafter and through diligent investigative efforts, the suspect was apprehended today, 14th August 2024, in Mulimila, Kamwokya Nakawa Division.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Deputy Police Spokesperson, Kampala Metropolitan ASP Luke owoyesigyire confirmed to this reporter that during the interrogation, Akello confessed to stealing the child in a bid to deceive her husband, who had been pressuring her to conceive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Owoyesigyire added that Akello claimed to have been feeding the child with bottled milk since the abduction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Police are now holding three suspects, including the victim\u2019s sister, Akoli Bena, who allegedly assisted the suspect by identifying the child and assuring her that the victim, due to her financial constraints, can&#8217;t properly care for the baby. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Police Mouthpiece added that the infant, Alyano Gladys, has been safely returned to her mother and is awaiting medical
