Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, is set to deliver the 2026 State of the Nation Address this Thursday, June 5, at the Kololo Independence Grounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Scheduled for 2:00 PM before a full sitting of Parliament, the address will update Ugandans on key achievements, outline ongoing challenges, and unveil policy priorities for the year ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This year\u2019s address arrives at a critical juncture, as the nation wrestles with an escalation of the deadly Ebola virus disease resurging in neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The outbreak\u2019s proximity has heightened anxieties across Ugandan border districts, with health officials on high alert to prevent cross-border transmission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The President speaks to a country entering a new political chapter, as the address follows the swearing-in of the President and members of the 12th Parliament in previous weeks, officially launching the 2026\u20132031 regime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Nation Address is a constitutional requirement under Article 101(1) of Uganda&#8217;s Constitution, which mandates the President to speak on the state of the nation at the beginning of each parliamentary session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The address sets the agenda and delivers a report card, as the President uses this platform to report on the economy, security, health, and infrastructure, set new priorities, and reaffirm core goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It also signals unity and accountability by bringing together all key pillars of the state, Parliament, the Judiciary, the Cabinet, diplomats, security chiefs, and traditional leaders, under one roof.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KAMPALA &#8211; The President of the Republic of Uganda, Gen.
