{"id":10949,"date":"2026-04-07T17:07:28","date_gmt":"2026-04-07T17:07:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/westernpearlreports.com\/?p=10949"},"modified":"2026-04-07T17:07:29","modified_gmt":"2026-04-07T17:07:29","slug":"museveni-orders-community-based-trial-for-ggaba-daycare-murder-suspect","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/westernpearlreports.com\/index.php\/2026\/04\/07\/museveni-orders-community-based-trial-for-ggaba-daycare-murder-suspect\/","title":{"rendered":"Museveni Orders Community-Based Trial for Ggaba Daycare Murder Suspect"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>KAMPALA, UGANDA<\/strong> &#8211; President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has directed that the prime suspect in the horrific Ggaba daycare murder case be tried within the community where the crime occurred last week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The standing order follows the shocking brutal murder of four toddlers on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at the Ggaba Early Childhood Development Programme School in Makindye Division, Kampala.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The incident occurred when the prime suspect, Christopher Okello Onyum, 34, allegedly posed as a parent to gain entry to the school and carried out one of the nation\u2019s most harrowing crimes by stabbing the children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Jane Frances Abodo, confirmed that the President specifically urged the judiciary to deploy a mobile court to handle the proceedings on-site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The suspect, Onyum, has been brought before the Chief Magistrate\u2019s Court in Makindye and remanded to Luzira Prison, marking a significant shift toward community-based legal proceedings for high-profile civilian crimes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prior to the mobile court initiative, Onyum\u2019s trial will be the first recent civilian matter heard under this model, bringing judicial proceedings directly to the affected neighborhood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Police spokesperson ACP Kituuma Rusoke earlier confirmed that investigators have uncovered a chilling twist in the Ggaba case, having obtained a video in which a woman alleges that the suspect previously murdered her child and evaded justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rusoke added that they have taken an interest in that matter, stating that their ultimate objective remains to secure justice for the victims and hold the perpetrator fully accountable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We have taken an interest in that matter too. The police\u2019s ultimate objective is clear: to see that the victims get justice and to hold the perpetrator accountable,&#8221; ACP Rusoke stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The community-led trial, if realized, is expected to serve both as a legal proceeding and a public reckoning for the shocking crime that has devastated the Ggaba
