RUBIRIZI, UGANDA<\/strong> – The Member of Parliament for Bunyaruguru County, Hon. Twesigye John Ntamuhira, has called on local leaders to embrace unity and collaboration as the driving force behind community development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The legislator made the appeal on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, while at St. Michael High School at an Education Career Guidance and Counselling event organized by his office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addressing the gathering, Hon. Ntamuhira urged fellow leaders to set aside their differences and embrace love and unity as the foundation for progress in the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Development cannot happen in a divided house. We must work together, embrace love, and remain united for the betterment of our community,” Hon. Ntamuhira stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He encouraged the students to remain focused, disciplined, and peaceful in their studies as they prepare for the future, while also broadening the conversation on career paths by urging both parents and students to look beyond traditional academic routes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hon. Ntamuhira advised them to explore vocational studies, emphasizing that such practical skills are key to securing their future by providing the tools necessary for self-reliance and employability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Rubirizi Town Council Mayor , John Magezi, highlighted a pressing concern in the area: the high rate of school dropouts. He attributed this challenge largely to parents who neglect their children’s educational needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He warned parents that prioritizing education is a legal duty, stressing that neglecting a child’s schooling is a crime under the Education Act and that every child has a right to attend and remain in school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Neglecting your child’s education is a crime according to the Education Act. Education is a right for every child, and as parents, we must fulfill our duty to ensure they attend and remain in school,” Magezi emphasized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The District Councilor representing Kicwamba Sub-County , Kweshenjereza Didas, and a parent himself, commended Hon. Ntamuhira for organizing the guidance and counseling event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He commended the initiative as highly helpful in enabling parents and leaders to better understand their roles in supporting children’s education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
