The educational tour, led by the Private School Association Chairperson Oscar Akampurira, was held between August 14th and 16th, 2026, and brought together directors and head teachers from 13 prominent schools across the district.

The tour witnessed an impressive representation of schools and institutions, including: Muhanga Golden School, Kashekye Child Care, Bukinda Parents School, and the two secondary schools of Giant and Rukiga.

Other schools are Kiruhura Good Samaritan, St. Clelia, Kibanda Preparatory, Kamwezi Braintrust, Kamwezi Model, Rwamucucu – New Alliance, St. Catherine, and Kashambya All Saints Primary Schools.

Leading the delegation, the Association Chairperson Oscar Akampurira noted that the team made valuable comparisons and now looks forward to applying the lessons learned to improve schools and develop Rukiga District.

He also praised the remarkable hospitality of Rwandans, who gave the delegation special treatment and attention, and expressed confidence that the tour would yield tangible results for education back home.

“The Rwandan people have shown us incredible warmth and hospitality. They treat guests with genuine care, reflecting their deep welcoming culture. Beyond the development, it is their spirit that inspires us to return home and build stronger, more united communities,” stated Oscar Akampurira.

Mable Atukunda Kiruhura, Director of Kiruhura Good Samaritan Primary School, described her first visit to Kigali as life-changing and expressed deep gratitude to the chairman for the opportunity.

She noted that the tour gave the team a chance to reflect and compare how the two countries are developing, adding that such exposure creates room for positive thinking and improvement.

“It gave us a moment of making reflections and comparisons on how the two countries are developing. It created a great room for positive thinking and improvement,” Mable noted.

St. Clelia Primary School Headteacher Turyasingura Fidelis called for more tours to help school owners adopt innovative strategies from other countries, while also noting that relaxation provides valuable mental refreshment.

“Such events and activities should always be organized to support school owners to adopt new innovative strategies to boost performance from other countries. They create a great feeling of mental refreshment,” stated Fidelis.

Retired Inspector of Schools Karuma Charles, also Director of Kibanda Preparatory School, was deeply moved by Rwanda’s political history and reflected on how human beings should live together in harmony.

He urged all Ugandans to embrace national unity, firmly believing that development is only possible when people put aside divisions, build bridges of trust, and work hand in hand for the common good.

“It emotionally touched my life to make a reflection on how human beings should live together in harmony. Development is impossible without national unity,” Karuma remarked.

The delegation toured key sites including Parliament, industrial zones, and model institutions, gaining insight into Rwanda’s governance, economic progress, and educational best practices.

They visited the Genocide Memorial and Museum, where they learned powerful lessons about forgiveness, unity, and the possibility of national healing after tragedy.

The delegation also explored sports facilities, road networks, City Hall, the airport, and environmental projects, marveling at Kigali’s cleanliness, planning, and commitment to sustainability.
