KABALE – The head of the Catholic Church and sovereign of Vatican City, His Holiness Pope Leo XIV, has appointed Rev. Fr. Bonaventure Bosco Gubazire as the new Bishop of Kabale Diocese.

Rev. Fr. Bonaventure Bosco Gubazire, a member of the Missionaries of Africa (White Fathers), currently serves as the Rector of St. Martin’s Seminary in Ghana and is now heading to his new role as the Bishop of Kabale Diocese.
He succeeds Bishop Callist Rubaramira, who faithfully shepherded the diocese for over two decades since 2003, overseeing growth in education, healthcare, and social development across the Kigezi region.
Bishop Rubaramira’s retirement follows Canon Law, which requires bishops to submit their resignation upon reaching the age of 75, paving the way for new pastoral leadership.
Church authorities are expected to announce further details, including the date of Bishop-elect Gubazire’s episcopal ordination and installation as Bishop of Kabale Diocese.
