“Yesterday evening, our officers responded to a tragic crash at Kinyamwenge in Hima Township. Preliminary investigations indicate a juvenile motorcyclist was attempting a dangerous U-turn in the middle of the highway when an oncoming vehicle struck him. The rider lost his life instantly. Our team promptly visited and meticulously documented the scene,” Maate stated.
Maate added that both vehicles were towed to Hima Police Station and are currently pending a thorough inspection by the Inspector of Vehicles (IOV), which will be crucial in establishing the mechanical conditions of the vehicles involved.
Police have since cautioned that underage riders lack the legal capacity and mental maturity to operate motorcycles safely, a deficiency that frequently results in fatal consequences.
