The president delivered the keynote charge on Monday, June 29, 2026, while chairing the first Cabinet meeting at State House, following a successful week-long induction retreat at the National Leadership Institute (NALI) in Kyankwanzi.

The meeting brought together Cabinet Ministers, Ministers of State, Permanent Secretaries, and senior government officials to begin collective government business focused on delivering the administration’s priorities for the next five years.

Museveni underscored that disciplined implementation, accountability, and efficient service delivery are central to fulfilling the NRM’s pledge of securing Uganda’s socio-economic transformation over the next five years.

“The Ministers have to remain focused on disciplined implementation, accountability and efficient service delivery as we work to fulfil the NRM’s commitment of securing Uganda’s socio-economic transformation over the next five years,” President Museveni stated.

The President nominated 83 Cabinet members, aligning with newly enacted constitutional caps of 30 Cabinet Ministers and 51 Ministers of State following Parliament’s approval of the variation to the 1995 Constitution.

The 83-member lineup featured a balanced 41 men and 40 women, also signaling continuity, with the President retaining Vice President Jessica Alupo and Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja in their respective roles.
