KYANKWANZI – Newly appointed Cabinet Ministers and Ministers of State have officially begun a pivotal week-long induction retreat at the National Leadership Institute (NALI) in Kyankwanzi.

The 2026–2031 Cabinet retreat follows a thorough government restructuring process that began with President Museveni’s nomination of the new Cabinet, proceeded through parliamentary vetting, and culminated in the swearing-in of the ministers.

The high-level exercise is a rigorous crash course in governance, designed to sharpen the ministers’ understanding of government machinery.

Over the next seven days, the new ministers will delve into government systems, Cabinet procedures, policy implementation, and their role in driving national transformation.

For many appointees, the retreat serves as an essential bridge between political appointment and administrative competence, aligning every ministry with the broader vision of the state.

Meanwhile, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is scheduled to officially open the inaugural proceedings and deliver a strategic roadmap for the government’s priorities over the next five years.

According to State House briefings, the President will place heavy emphasis on four pillars including wealth creation, moving beyond subsistence households to a money economy.

The President will also emphasize discipline, upholding ideological and operational standards in public service and also accountability, ensuring public resources translate into tangible services.

President Museveni’s guidance will also emphasize economic transformation to accelerate Uganda’s path to middle-income status, grounding the week’s lessons in the Parish Development Model and the NRM’s long-term vision.

Kyankwanzi, long regarded as the ideological cradle of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), provides a focused environment away from the hustle of Kampala.

Having traded office suits for retreat attire, the ministers receive a clear message: governing Uganda demands not only political will but also a disciplined, procedural, and well-oiled administrative engine.
