Hon. Aja Baryayanga made the remarks on Monday, May 18, 2026, while witnessing the swearing-in of Kabale District’s new LC.5 Chairperson, Denis Ndyomugyenyi Nzeirwe, alongside 36 district councilors.

Speaking to the gathered attendees and councilors at the District Headquarters on Kabale – Makanga Hill, the legislator emphasized that local leaders and the national government must work hand-in-hand to ensure effective service delivery.

Hon. Andrew Aja Baryayanga called for accountability in public service and a determined fight against corruption so that citizens receive everything they are entitled to, affirming that leaders and locals must work together.

“Collaboration between local and central government is vital for community development. We will work hand in hand with local leaders to ensure service delivery reaches every citizen, and I call for accountability and a relentless fight against corruption so that our people finally achieve everything they are entitled to,” said MP Aja Baryayanga.

District Chairperson Denis Nzeirwe echoed the call for integrity, pledging to fight corruption to the roots and clean up pensioners’ records while insisting that leaders must always remain accountable to beneficiaries.

Chairperson Denis Nzeirwe unveiled ambitious education initiatives including a printing machine for examinations and teacher refresher courses for better school performance.

He directed the District CAO to submit a clean, verified list of all pensioner beneficiaries, and charged all district Members of Parliament to actively execute their duties, putting their district at the forefront of their minds.

“We must tear corruption out by its roots and clean up pensioner records. Leaders must remain accountable to beneficiaries. I am directing the CAO to submit a verified list of pensioners. On education, we are introducing an exam printing machine and teacher refresher courses,” stated Chairperson Nzeirwe.

The event featured an election for the District Speaker and Deputy Speaker inside the Rukiiko Hall, from which the Kaharo Sub-County Female Councilor, Ms. Flavia Nyanakiiza Kanagizi, was re-elected as the District Speaker.

The high-profile function was witnessed by several regional MPs, including Hon. Dr. Protazio Begumisa of Ndorwa East, Hon. Enid Origumisiriza (the Kabale District Woman MP), and Hon. Eliab Nayurinda of Mporera Ndorwa West.
