KABALE – Authorities in Kabale Municipality have announced Monday, May 11, 2026, as the enforcement date for the Trade Order implementation in the ongoing national campaign to restore order in business operations and urban planning.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!The development was confirmed by the Municipal Deputy Town Clerk, Sunday Eric, who explained that the enforcement teams are fully prepared following extensive stakeholder engagements and sensitization meetings in the affected areas.
The Deputy Town Clerk added that traders, local leaders, enforcement officers, and technical staff have already been briefed to ensure smooth implementation.
Mr. Eric warned that all kiosks and buildings not approved by the council, particularly those marked, will be demolished, urging owners to voluntarily remove them before the deadline.
The new relocation plan, based on a law passed by Parliament in December 2023, will reduce crowding and help the town plan better for roads and buildings.
According to the Deputy Town Clerk, all food vendors and other people selling food items will move to designated areas in Bugongi and Mwanjari, while a daily market is also planned at Esso.
The timber dealers currently operating in the middle of town will be relocated to Igabiro, Kakabano in Bugongi, and Kirigime behind the mosque, the Deputy Town Clerk has confirmed.
Sunday Eric further stated that all new relocation sites are being fixed up and improved, including a daily market at Esso and areas in Kakabano and behind the mosque.
Meanwhile, churches and schools have been given a period of two months and two weeks, respectively, starting from May 11, 2026, to comply with the new regulations.
