RUBIRIZI – Christians have been encouraged to shun all forms of false prophecy from con-artist pastors and, instead, stand boldly in their faith, trusting God as the true driver of their destiny.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! This stern word of encouragement was issued on Sunday, April 26th, 2026, by Ven. Canon Joab Akankunda, the Archdeacon of Rugando Archdeaconry in West Ankole Diocese.
Presiding over the Thanksgiving service for Yona Tumuranze, the Lay Leader, at Nyakatunga Church in Katerera, Rubirizi District, Ven. Akankunda urged people to abandon unproductive practices, pray to God fervently, and change their mindset.
“Stop wasting time consulting false prophets instead of trusting God as the true driver of your destiny. Repent and stop wasting time on witchcraft, gossip, jealousy, malice, hatred, and spreading rumors. Rather, turn to God, pray hard, and work diligently to develop your families,” Ven. Akankunda declared.
He further challenged Christians to fight poverty and domestic conflicts through cooperation and mutual love, emphasizing that a developed home is one where every occupant fulfills their responsibilities.
Ven. Canon Akankunda noted with concern that some parents force their children into marriage, a practice that increases illiteracy and ignorance, thus appealing to parents to sacrifice everything possible for their children’s education.
Mr. Yona Tumuranze, Lay Reader for Nyakatunga Church of Uganda, appreciated the people of Rubirizi for their love and support and pledged to work closely with them to develop the church and improve livelihoods in their homes.
Promising a gospel centered on cooperation, unity, hard work, and ending domestic conflict, Tumuranze vowed to put more effort into promoting education, health, sanitation, and fighting corruption within the community.
“I thank you for your love and support and pledge to work closely with you all to develop the church and improve livelihoods in every home. I will put more effort into promoting education and fighting corruption. I commit to mobilizing people, especially backsliders, to return to their faith,” remarked Tumuranze.
Churches remain strong unities and welcoming homes where people gather to find hope, support one another, and build stronger, kinder communities together.
