SHEEMA – Seven people returning home after overnight prayers in Sheema District have been confirmed dead following a devastating road accident in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!The fatal crash occurred at about 6:30 a.m. on April 25, 2026, at Rushara, Kabwohe, within Sheema Municipality, along the busy Mbarara–Bushenyi Highway.
Reports suggest that the incident involved a black Toyota Fielder (UA 702DL), which was traveling from Bushenyi toward Mbarara.
For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle lost control or collided under circumstances yet to be determined, resulting in the instantaneous death of seven occupants.
Two other individuals sustained life-threatening injuries and were immediately rushed to ICOBI Hospital, where they are currently receiving emergency medical care.
The deceased, believed to have come from the communities of Rukungu, Kabingo, Kitooha, and Karushegu, were returning home after attending overnight prayers at St. Rose Catholic Church.
The bodies of the seven deceased have been conveyed to the Kabwohe Health Centre III mortuary, where postmortem examinations are expected to be conducted.
At the time of this report, traffic police officers were at the scene conducting a thorough investigation to establish the exact cause of the crash.
