KISORO, UGANDA – Kisoro’s SC Volcanoes Football Club has been awarded a 3-0 win and three crucial points in the Western Region League after their opponents, Rwenshama FC, failed to turn up for a match on Saturday.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! The host team was left ready and waiting at their Mashaka Playgrounds home ground on February 21st, but the 4:00 pm kickoff never happened as their visitors, Rwenshama FC, failed to show up for the league fixture.
Despite arriving at the pitch alongside their passionate supporters well before the scheduled 4:00 pm kickoff, SC Volcanoes were left waiting in vain as Rwenshama FC failed to appear at Mashaka Playgrounds.
Following the mandatory waiting period, officials abandoned the game, with the circumstances surrounding the visitors’ absence still not known.
Rather than allow the afternoon to end in disappointment, the SC Volcanoes coaching staff devised a clever solution to keep the fans entertained.
The players were divided into two competitive squads for an in-house practice match, ensuring that the supporters who had flocked to Mashaka Playgrounds still witnessed action on the pitch.
Fans expressed their disappointment to our reporter over the no-show, having eagerly anticipated a competitive clash to witness the talent of both sides.
“I came to watch a good game of football. It is sad the visitors didn’t come, but at least our boys gave us something to cheer about,” one fan said.
A match official, who did not want to be named, confirmed that a report about the missed game would be sent to the Western Region authorities of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA).
The match official confirmed that a report would be submitted for a ruling, and should the points be awarded later, the 3-0 victory would provide a major boost for SC Volcanoes by strengthening their position at the top of the league table.
Meanwhile, head coach Patrick Ochan said the team is now fully focused on their next big challenge, with preparations already underway for the crucial fixtures that lie ahead.
SC Volcanoes will travel to Ngora District next week to face Tapoh FC in the Round of 32 of the prestigious Stanbic Uganda Cup.
